Instagram recently joined the ranks of Facebook and LinkedIn by launching a new easy-to-use feature that allows users to add preferred pronouns to their Instagram bio. This feature helps to normalize the use of nontraditional pronouns and build broader inclusion and safety one Instagram bio at a time!

Psst — in case you missed the latest safety updates, Instagram also rolled out an anti-bullying filter for DMs!

But, back to the pronoun feature… In the past, users could only elect to share their pronouns in the 150-character profile description. But the Instagram pronouns feature created a section exclusively for gender pronouns, allowing you to add up to four to your bio.

This inclusive feature is a step toward creating a safer and more normalized space for gender identity and expression. In this article, I’ll explain why this update benefits everyone and how to add your pronouns!

Not sure how this update can make an impact on your account? Let’s dive into why everyone should be sharing their pronouns.

Why the New Pronouns Feature is for Everyone

Let’s begin. *adjusts glasses*

Gender identity pronoun expression doesn’t look the same for any two people. By adding pronouns to Instagram, even if you identify with the gender assigned to you at birth, you’re helping dispel the notion that gender expression and identity are the same.

By adding pronouns to your Instagram profile (especially if we identify with our birth genders), we’re normalizing that it’s okay for EVERYONE to use various pronoun options.

No matter what your pronouns are, sharing them visibly with the Instagram pronouns feature creates a supportive space on the Instagram app for everyone to embrace who they are and take control of how they want to be addressed. It’s a beautiful and inclusive action we can all start taking.

I’ll show you step-by-step how to add pronouns to your Instagram later in this post. (And don’t worry, there will be screenshots!)

Ultimately, adding pronouns to your Instagram profile demonstrates that you’re a person who doesn’t assume gender identity and emphasizes that you are a safe person for those who don’t identify with traditional pronouns.

Taking advantage of the Instagram pronouns feature can also attract like-minded individuals who share similar values of inclusion and signal that your account is for everyone.

Interested in what pronouns Instagram currently has available? Well, I’ve got that answer for you right down below!

Which Pronouns Are Currently Offered on Instagram?

Here’s the current list of pronouns offered on Instagram:

The Role of Pronouns in Enhancing UX

Pronouns on Instagram do more than clarify gender identity; they enhance the overall user experience by fostering an environment of respect and inclusivity.

This feature allows users to express themselves more authentically and be recognized for who they are. In a digital age where personal interaction is often limited to text and images, adding pronouns is a significant step towards personalizing and humanizing online interactions.

It encourages users to engage with others more thoughtfully, promoting a deeper understanding and respect for individual identities.

By integrating pronouns into user profiles, Instagram is not only adapting to the evolving landscape of social media but also actively participating in shaping a more accepting and inclusive digital community.

Broader Inclusion on Instagram

If you want to build a brand or online presence that is kind and inclusive, using tools like the pronouns feature to display your values of inclusion and equality is important.

“It’s a good addition for Instagram, which adds to its broader push to maximize inclusion, and ensure that all users are able to represent themselves as they choose on the platform.”

Social Media Today

By sharing our pronouns, we can help make Instagram a safer place for each individual to express themselves authentically and feel accepted, which is pretty incredible.

It’s a simple and easy way to begin to make a difference, one small step at a time. And the more people who add their pronouns, the more likely Instagram will continue implementing more changes for the betterment and safety of our communities.

Now, let’s all do our part and add our pronouns! And, let’s chat again soon.

First of all, social media should be non-negotiable in a company’s marketing efforts.

Not convinced? Let’s take a and see what social media marketing can do for your business:

Establish your brand and give it a personality. (People relate and care much more about your product this way!)

Helps with market research. Social listening gives insights into what your target audience likes about your brand and products.

Social media is very cost-effective compared to other marketing efforts.

Helps generate traffic to your website.

Social media also has a very high conversion rate.

And, sure, anyone can post consistently on social media, especially with the help of a social media management tool.

But having a strategy and tracking what does and doesn’t work will help you get where you’re headed even faster!

And the best part? Building a social media marketing strategy isn’t nearly as hard or time-consuming as you’d think! In fact, I’d say with a few tips you could go from sporadic growth to a steady climb in reach and engagement.

Curious to know how? You’re in luck because we put together a real social media strategy template.

What is social media strategy?

First things first! What is social media strategy? This is a marketing practice used to promote your business and boost business goals, such as brand awareness, on popular social media platforms. It includes steps like outlining KPIs, goals, and of course content!

Consider how your business goals align with your social media marketing efforts

If you’ve already nailed down how your business goals translate to your marketing goals, skip ahead to how to set up your social media marketing strategy goals.

Though it’s true almost every business does benefit from having a social media presence, not every business is the same. In crafting a social media marketing strategy, it’s important to consider your business’s specific relationship to social media.

Speaking of relationships, let’s ask some intimate questions.

Do you have the right business for social media marketing ads? Is the effort toward posting across every platform relevant to your business’s brand? Are your targets highly engaged in other brands’ content like yours on social media?

Not every business needs to do it all, and your social media strategy will largely depend on your targeted audience. But, how do you know what’s right for your business? Well, friends. Just like dating, you’ve got to know who you are and what you want in order to go anywhere. So, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and discuss the 3 business love languages (sometimes you just gotta keep running with a metaphor) to put together a social media strategy.

Branding

The core of knowing how your business should use social media has to do with understanding your brand. If you’ve yet to create a brand, check out our resources on tips to build a brand. Branding before any marketing strategy is incredibly important, especially with social media marketing. Branding is knowing who you are, which is crucial to knowing your audience.

Social media is content-centric. The aesthetics, the voice, and the posting style of your content will represent your brand across the internet. It’s vital to decide this before posting content so there aren’t major brand inconsistencies in what is being posted on your social media accounts. This can confuse prospects, prevent them from remembering you in the future, and cause them to unfollow you.

Target Audience

Once your branding is established, it’s important to know your target audience. Where do they spend their time? What social media apps is your age demographic on the most? This is important to consider when drafting your strategy. We wrote an article on which social platform is best for your business. As it addresses different demographics tend to spend time on some platforms more than others.

Go deep into understanding what your target audience is interested in, where they live, what their living situations are like, what the problems are that they are facing, what their relationship status is, and more!

Budget

Next is budget…does your business have a social media budget? Is your business willing to invest in ads if they’re relevant for your brand’s final social media marketing strategy? Creating social media accounts is free and easy to do, once you know your brand, audience, and budget, we can start strategizing. Muhahahaha!

How to set up your social media marketing strategy goals

From measuring analytics and key performance indicators to studying competitor’s strategies, and planning your content – this section will cover all the basics of developing the best social media strategy. Let’s get buzzin.

Come up with metrics and key performance indicators

When coming up with a social media marketing strategy there are some key analytics to keep an eye on that will greatly boost your success. Most apps will track your analytics for you, allowing you to see your reach and engagement with each post.

And some key performance indicators to keep track of are: reach, clicks, engagement, hashtag performance, organic and paid likes, and audience demographics.

Another helpful idea is to run a campaign that’s set over a period of time with certain metric goals in mind. A business can learn a lot from a campaign on what does and doesn’t work for your brand.

Overall, goals should be SMART. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

You can also read more on how to calculate social media ROI to track how your social media strategy is affecting your bottom line.

Look at competitor strategies & review example strategies like these

A great way to get ideas and inspiration is by conducting competitor research. Pay attention to their social media. How often do they post? What types of posts perform the best? What strategies are they using?

Now let’s look at some examples of social media strategies that were hugely successful!

Bringing other team members in for a session to discuss, review reports, and brainstorm future strategies is the ideal way to accomplish social media strategy on an ongoing basis. Teamwork makes the dream work, am I right?

“How did your strategy work or not work?”

“What would you do differently next time?”

Email marketing is one of the best marketing channels which allows you to build an authentic connection and relationship with the people who keep your business alive and thriving. AKA your most loyal audience. Email marketing has been one of the most effective results-producing campaign methods since the beginning of modern digital marketing.

If used correctly, email marketing can bridge the gap between an engaging, growing relationship and an increase in profit that surpasses any other type of marketing. And as a bonus, it’s one of the most cost-effective forms of direct marketing!

While some companies may be hesitant to try email advertising for fear of deterring sales, it can actually increase your customer loyalty! The key is to figure out how to use it effectively and with a purpose while giving value to your customers and making it personalized.

The perks of email marketing may range from an increase in sales and loyalty. Still, those are just part of why email marketing is beneficial and crucial to a successful marketing strategy.

Interested in learning more? Keep reading and find out exactly what email marketing is, the specific benefits it brings to businesses in your industry, how to get started, and how much value it can bring.

Basically, prepare to be converted to the most effective *cough* cult, err, I mean form of email marketing.

So, What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing isn’t just sending a massive amount of emails with coupon codes. It’s about establishing a relationship and maintaining the 80/20 rule (which we’ll get into later).

Email marketing is essentially sending promotional emails, testing how beneficial they are, and maintaining that business-customer relationship by continually providing value to your customers.

But, what IS email marketing exactly?

Well, friends, to answer your question, it’s a direct form of marketing similar to snail mail. However, it’s more efficient, much cheaper, and paperless! Email marketing or email advertising is a form of communication your customers opt-in to receive your advertisements and promotional material. Your customers give you their email addresses which get added to a list that allows you to contact them directly and remain at the front of their minds.

Email marketing gives a slight air of exclusivity to your most loyal customers, and it’s the perfect place to reward that loyalty and maintain it while also boosting sales.

Now, let’s talk about how email marketing got started

While the history of email is one thing, the creation of email marketing is another. The first email campaign was sent out by Gary Thuerk, the “Father of Spam” in 1978. Thuerk was the Marketing Manager at Digital Equipment Corp, and his mass email, which went out to a few hundred people promoting their DEC machine, made $13 million in sales!

And thus, email marketing was born, marking it as a highly successful and lucrative marketing channel.

And that’s only part of it. Just wait until you read about the benefits of email marketing below! You’ll be wondering why you didn’t start this marketing channel yesterday.

What Are the Benefits of Email Marketing for Your Business?

Email marketing is fast, efficient, and cost-effective. It allows you to continually reach out to potential and existing customers while nurturing those relationships and leads.

It also encourages your customers to visit your website and make purchases. Can you say “it’s a win-win”?!

Email marketing is best at doing what good marketing intends to do by converting interest and leads into sales. Need more convincing? Just in case you’re still on the fence, let’s go over the specific benefits and see if we can get you fully on board.

1. Email marketing improves sales!

Marketers who use email campaigns have noticed up to a 760% increase in revenue. The studies all back it up; there’s a solid direct correlation between email marketing and increasing sales.

Email campaigns are also 40x more successful than Facebook and Twitter marketing combined. So not only does it increase sales, but it’s highly more effective than other marketing channels. Pretty convincing, eh??

While social media marketing is essential for maintaining a customer-based relationship, it’s also geared toward cold reaching out to prospective customers and trying to find new people. And it’s not nearly as exclusive.

If someone follows you on social media, they may have put their foot in the door, but if they subscribe to your emails, they’re sitting on your couch waiting for you to entertain them.

Meaning the people on your email list are warm leads. They already went to your website (probably already made a purchase), they found value, and they want to hear from you and buy (more of) your products.

And that’s why email marketing is so effective because you’re sending messages to an audience that opted-in to hear from you directly, and they want more of your products. Email marketing allows you to stay in their minds by encouraging them to visit your website and make purchases. And thus, we’ve arrived at our next point.

2. Email Marketing Generates Traffic to your Website

When an email campaign has a CTA (call to action) that allows readers to click directly to your website, you’re generating more traffic to your site. And more traffic means keeping your audience engaged with your website, which improves your SEO and Google ranking. And improving your website ranking means showing up in more searches and generating even more sales!

3. Email Marketing Increases Leads

Email marketing not only increases sales but also brings in additional leads. Email campaigns can nurture leads by giving them more value before they take the plunge and make a purchase or investment.

Email marketing is a large part of the puzzle that can convert your business from outbound marketing (cold calling, email blasts to purchased lists), which is like finding a needle in a haystack, to inbound marketing. Inbound marketing focuses on SEO, blogging, email campaigns, and social media as ways to attract the people who are already out looking for you and what you have to offer.

Outbound marketing takes lots of time and effort for a few (to sometimes no) leads. In comparison, inbound marketing allows you to engage with your direct and intended audience by essentially drawing your clients to you instead of running around chasing them. And email marketing does a particularly swell job at nurturing leads while guiding them to make purchases.

4. Email Marketing is Cost-Effective

Traditional campaigns required photoshoots, printers, mailing, and paying several different people for many separate jobs. Whereas an email campaign can be put together and sent out within a day by one person, saving you time and money. And this is why email campaigns are one of the most cost-effective and timely marketing channels.

5. Email Provides Added Value to your Customers

When you provide value to your audience, they keep coming back. And email marketing is a great way to continually give back to your most loyal customers, even if they don’t go through with your CTA each time.

The more value you provide, the more your audience will pay attention to you and continue to purchase your products.

6. An Email List Gives You Something to Own

Did you know you don’t own your content on social media? Instagram, for example, has stated once you post on their app they have the right to do pretty much whatever they want with your content.

It’s uneasy to think an app could suddenly shut down, and those followers and all of that content could be gone forever. While you have no control over an app’s success, you have complete control over your email list. We recommend using a good email provider, but you can interact with the people on that list regardless.

You may wonder if these benefits extend to your industry, and the short answer is YES. No matter what type of business you own, you can find your niche, draw them to you, and nail inbound marketing to increase your sales! Next, let’s go over how effective email marketing is in each industry.

Email Marketing Stats by Industry

But, how do you pull off a successful email campaign? And what even makes a good email campaign with a high open and click rate? Well, friends, let’s dive into that in the next section.

How To Get Started In Email Marketing

So, how do you send emails and make sure they’re opened and driving sales? And let’s not forget to ensure they provide enough value so your loyal customers aren’t unsubscribing.

Between offering enough value, using something to draw them in, and a strong CTA to drive home the sale, making the right email campaign is a skill. And there are 6 crucial steps in pulling off a successful and lucrative email marketing campaign, which we’ll get into right meow.

Step 1: Make a goal

Before taking the plunge and sending your first email, the most important step is figuring out your purpose. What do you want to achieve from this email? What are you targeting? What content will you include, and why? How will you measure the success of your campaign? Further down, we’ll discuss which type of campaigns are best for specific goals.

Pro tip: try to align your campaign goals with your company goals. Is it to drive sales of new products? Obtaining new leads for your sales team? More tickets sold for your event? What goal is your company working towards that an email campaign can directly support?

Step 2: Build a list

Now that you have a goal, it’s time to build your list. There are a couple of different ways you can make your list. The first is by importing the email addresses of existing customers. However, before sending someone an email campaign, legally, you need permission from them. One way to do so is to have a place for them to check or uncheck a box while making a purchase that asks if they’d like to receive promotional emails.

Another way is to market your email list on social media channels and have a pop-up on your website encouraging your audience to sign up for your email list. You can even give a little preview, teasing coupon codes or new products, and exclusive content.

The easier you make it for people to subscribe, the more likely they will… giving you a big ol’ thick list with lots of sales.

Step 3: Choose a platform to send your email

When looking for automated email services, look for one that will track your analytics, is desktop and mobile-friendly, and has minimal glitches when potentially sending out hundreds or thousands of emails. Different platforms also track different analytics, so look for one that aligns with whatever you’re most interested in tracking.

If you were unaware, Tailwind is a social media and email management platform combined into one! The email features of Tailwind are there for you when you need to auto-send, schedule, and even template your emails. The platform easily flows with its social media features as it seamlessly combines both social and email analytics into one!

Sign up for free to manage your social and email marketing with Tailwind!

Step 4: Build the email

Is the information useful? Does it follow the 80/20 rule where 80% of the content adds value and only 20% is promotional with the intent to drive sales?

Related Reading: Copy That Connects: How To Write Irresistible Emails

Is there an engaging subject line that draws people in? Is the body read like a sales pitch, or is plenty of additional content also being given? And is there a strong call to action at the end?

Having a good email is the key to preventing your audience from unsubscribing or moving it to their junk folder.

Step 5: Optimize email campaign send times

The time of day you send the email is huge in determining its chance of getting opened, making it a crucial part of having a successful email campaign.

We have a blog post about this titled, The Best Time to Send Marketing Emails.

Overall, the best time to send it is during a transition period of the day. For example, when someone gets to work, during their lunch break, right after they get home, or right before they go to bed. The best time to send is when the highest number of people will be checking their email.

Step 6: Measure your results

Once you’ve sent out your first email, you should start tracking the analytics to see how many people opened it. When looking for an email campaign platform, look for one that tracks some, if not all, of these analytics:

Number of unique opens

Number of bounces (how many weren’t delivered)

Number of emails not opened

The open rate

Click-through rate

Unsubscribe rate

Spam complaints

Shares

These analytics will tell how your audience is interacting with your campaign and how successful it was. You can also compare your campaigns to pinpoint what’s working and what could work better.

You can additionally use Google Analytics or your website’s page tracking analytics to see how many people clicked on your website from the email. Tracking your email campaigns is a big factor in improving your campaigns and getting better results.

What Are the Different Types of Email Marketing?

There are several types of email campaigns that each attribute to a different kind of goal. You may find your audience responds best to a specific type of campaign or a variety of them all. Just keep an eye on the analytics and adjust accordingly.

Now, let’s get into the different types of email marketing campaigns!

The newsletter could feature blog posts, monthly insights, a preview of what to look forward to next month, tips, or a story.

Newsletters are a great and successful way to keep in touch with your audience and let them know what’s going on. Setting up a weekly or monthly newsletter can keep you at the top of your customer’s minds and drive them back to your website.

Marketing offers are a type of email campaign meant to drive a direct sale. This type of campaign is geared towards a discount or promotional offer for one of your products or services.

The email is made of a body convincing your audience why they need this product or service, what value it brings, and then ends with a strong call-to-action with a link to make a purchase.

Marketing offers are generally limited and give the feeling of urgency, telling consumers to act fast before the deal expires.

This type of campaign can be highly effective if it’s not overused and the promotion does feel like a great deal. An excellent way to gauge the success of this type of campaign is by seeing how many sales it brought.

It’s an effort to tell your audience to keep their eyes out for something and keep them in the know, so they’re the first ones to hear about this exciting change.

Announcements are great at keeping your audience engaged and interested in you and your company by giving them an exclusive first look with the added benefit of getting them back to your website or store to check it out.

Have a special event coming up? Maybe you’ll be featured on an online event, you’re a podcast hosting a live show, or you’ll be attending a local farmers market to sell your products. Whatever the event is, you can use an email campaign to advertise it and try to promote your audience by showing up and supporting you.

The primary goal is to encourage your customers to attend this event. You can tease what you’ll be talking about or what will be happening, even give a discount code that’s exclusively for your audience.

The type of email campaign you use will be entirely based on your intended goal. However, each type is sure to remind your customers you’re there, encourage them to visit your website, and increase your SEO. Overall, the best campaigns for driving direct sales will be marketing offers and announcements. While the best way to maintain relationships and keep customers up-to-date will be through a regular newsletter. But for best results, having a mix of different marketing campaigns is the way to go!

Email Marketing Regulations to Remember

What are Email marketing regulations? In short, they are laws and regulations created for consumers in order to protect their information and right to privacy. Following the regulations of your business’ country is vital to building a trusting relationship with your customers, as well as having an effective email marketing campaign.

What Email Marketing Regulations May Affect Your Business?

There are several different laws and regulations to be aware of, no matter if you are in the USA, Canada, Europe, or elsewhere. A common list of regulations includes:

Avoid SPAM headers or deceptive information.

Companies that send marketing communications must keep clear records of each user’s verified consent.

Revoking direct marketing consent must be as easy and accessible as giving consent.

And so on. You will need to be aware of and compliant with all necessary regulations in your area, plus have a game plan to implement them before you begin.

Is Email Marketing Worth It?

The short answer, it ABSOLUTELY is! As long as you treat your audience like humans, provide value, and don’t oversell. With those key factors, you’ll be avoiding unsubscribers, increasing traffic to your website, driving sales, providing value, and nurturing leads.

Your subscribers want to hear from you, which is why they gave you their email address and permission to send them messages in the first place! Just try to be genuine, not too sales-ey, and you’ll be able to maintain your audience AND grow your list.

We finally made it to National Dog Month!!!! Seriously, congratulations, guys. It was touch and go for a while during COVID, but we finally got here, and I’m so proud.

Is it just me, or is August typically the busiest month of summer? Maybe it’s because we’re all squeezing in those final vacations before school starts again. Or mourning the glorious weather that’ll quickly be coming to an end. :’(

Either way, August is a month to be enjoyed and savored, so let’s spend less time planning posts and more time living and sharing the experiences of those moments.

Even if it’s just a picture of you partaking in a delicious dessert on National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, there are plenty of holidays and celebrations to choose from to give you some high-quality content.

Nadalie Bardo is an enthusiastic and motivational force, bringing sparkle and life to anything she touches. You can even feel her enthusiasm and passion in the audio of this interview.

She’s a special person who makes the world more magical by doing what she loves.

While I’m sure Nadalie has always been a magnetic person, she wasn’t always following her passion. She used to have a 9-5 job with a 3-hour commute that made her miserable.

“I did the whole thing. I was in grad school. I was in university for eight years, and then I finally got a job, and it was so disappointing. I was like, ‘Wow, this is it? I spent all that time working just to be stuck in traffic.’ I did the math, and driving back and forth for 40 years would take up five years of my life.”

“Wow, this is it? I spent all that time working just to be stuck in traffic.”

Something needed to change, and she felt pulled to start sharing what she was learning and experiencing. And so Nadalie took the first step by starting her blog, It’s All You Boo.

“My first official blog post was me ranting about hating the 9:00 to 5:00 life. And it just morphed into talking about things I was discovering about myself, and motivation issues and discovering what it means to slay your goals.”

As Nadalie began dipping her toes in the water with her self-help-themed blog, she began seeing the same patterns of job disappointment in the people around her. People who were unhappy even though they were doing all the things they were told to do.

Being a loving person who deeply cares for others, Nadalie wanted to help motivate her friends and family members to believe in themselves. She wanted to help them feel worthy of happiness and inspire them to pursue it.

She didn’t realize it at the time, but on the other side of figuring out how to believe in herself, she’d also find major success.

“I started talking to friends, and I asked them two questions. One, are you happy? And two, do you feel successful? Do you feel that, or is there still something unfulfilled? And it was asking those questions where I came up with that saying. I found that was something I kept saying, it’s not those external things. It’s just about you.”

Those questions she asked herself and others led to the start of something. The beginning of shifting from a blog to a business. And shifting internally from doubting herself to surrendering and seeing where she could go.

“One, are you happy? And two, do you feel successful?”

Nadalie began exploring her hold-ups, whether from fear or a lack of motivation, and she shared those findings to empower others. Doing this ignited something exciting. Nadalie began to build something as she talked about the personal behind-the-scenes journey of becoming herself and loving that person.

“I think if you want to be successful at this, one thing that has to come to mind is starting a business is a journey of personal development. And it touches every area of your life. You’ve got blocks about money? You’re going to have to face that. Do you have confidence issues? You’re going to have to overcome that. It affects your relationships with people. No part of your life is left untouched.”

“Starting a business is a journey of personal development. “

Nadalie didn’t plan for her blog and business to become what it has, but organically she began to discover her own unique “secret sauce,” and she realized what it took to find your path and be happy. It’s All You Boo.

In the beginning, Nadalie researched best blog practices, and she kept noticing how many people talked about Pinterest, so she decided to give it a try.

Nadalie recalls that everyone had an opinion about how to be successful, and she noticed those “best practices” changed all the time. So while there was constant advice, Nadalie was determined to drown it out and follow her guidance.

She created social media accounts and immediately noticed Pinterest was taking off and bringing lots of traffic to her website.

“I realized the little bit of energy I’m putting into this is working. So, why the heck am I wasting time on all this other stuff? “

Nadalie’s success on Pinterest made her want to lean more into it and learn how to grow it. And that’s how Nadalie also found Tailwind.

“I would read these blog posts, and people would be like, ‘Oh my gosh. I get my traffic from Pinterest!’ And then the following breath was always ‘Schedule your Pins with Tailwind!’ It was like peanut butter and jelly. You want both. I wanted the best for Pinterest. I didn’t want it to be an afterthought. I wanted it to be the foundation of how this platform worked. And to me, it wasn’t even a choice.”

Nadalie became a Tailwind user and started joining Tailwind Communities and batch scheduling pins. She noted the growth and all of the opportunities Pinterest began to bring.

“A lot of us feel overwhelmed. A lot of us feel like, “Oh my gosh. I can’t get ahead.”This is an endless to-do list.” So, the time that I’ve been able to save by using Tailwind in terms of getting ahead and batching – that’s invaluable. I don’t have a day where like, “I didn’t pin.” That doesn’t happen for me because everything is taken care of.”

Social media management is a full-time job that many business owners struggle to balance. That’s why batch scheduling and automatic posting are invaluable to business owners. Especially those who are a team of one in the beginning!

But while Nadalie’s story is captivating, we’re still just getting started. Wait and see what else has happened for her, and It’s All You Boo.

“The time that I’ve been able to save by using Tailwind in terms of getting ahead and batching – that’s invaluable. “

As Nadalie’s success began to take off thanks to Pinterest, she went from a blogger to an eCommerce store. Nadalie started selling motivational journals, positive mantras, a Pinterest course, a goal slayer program, and a goal-setting course. And while Nadalie was juggling these new offers and expanding her blog and brand, something incredible happened.

“I even got offered to write a book. I wrote a book because people found me on Pinterest.”

A publishing company approached Nadalie to write a book on how she has accomplished so much. She accepted the offer and wrote Conquer Procrastination: Proven Strategies to Maintain Productivity and Take Control of Your Life.

“I would not have achieved that had I not been using Tailwind. I don’t think I would have grown as fast. I don’t think I would have even had time to write a book because they gave me six weeks to write it. So had things not been handled, there’s no way I would’ve had the time to do it.”

The most fantastic part about Nadalie’s story is she didn’t get her success by merely hustling. She found herself and her purpose which lead to the rest.

“I would not have achieved that had I not been using Tailwind. “

She started a blog that now has contributing writers from around the world. She experimented with Pinterest, began selling profitable courses about Pinterest, and motivated other people to find their best selves too. When Nadalie found her path, the rest followed.

She didn’t have to query literary agents or pitch book ideas. A publishing company found her, saw her authenticity’s magic, and offered her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’ve never seen a more perfect example of the phrase, “what’s meant to be will not miss you.”

“It’s like so many amazing things can happen once you automate something, once you have a reliable system. My Pinterest workflow, or even my blog and business workflow depends on Tailwind.”

Nadalie’s empire was built thanks to Pinterest, and Tailwind helping her Pinterest rapidly grow.

Nadalie’s website has tons of great information and free material, like her killer blog with topics ranging from finding happiness within, to crystals for beginners, choosing life insurance, and hormone imbalances. Her blog is a one-stop with everything you need to know in a single place.

She also has a FREE masterclass, “3 Big Mistakes You’re Making on Pinterest.”

And if you want to stay up to date with It’s All You Boo, then don’t forget to follow her social channels! Youtube, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook.

… by spreading awareness to some of these lesser-known holidays.

July may be packed full of summer festivities and celebrations, but with some pre-planned content, you can make sure your A-Team consistency doesn’t take a back burner. These holidays offer a full spectrum of events, some silly, some delicious, and some more serious. Pick and choose what works best within your niche, and add some variety to your feed!

Followers love seeing other sides to an account, and these holidays can be great opportunities to show parts of yourself they may not usually see. Whether it’s your hosting skills for a neighborhood grilling party, your favorite obscure ice cream flavor, your activism for human rights, or your favorite cheesy joke. July has plenty of excuses to show dynamics and depth your audience may not know you possess.

Use the month of July to peel back some layers, and with the heatwave, it can be in more than one way!

Until next time, friends!

Bree Pair started her blog back in 2010 to show the process of making her first house into a home. And while she wrote about her life, her views organically grew.

Around that time, bloggers began coming onto the scene and completely changed the rules of marketing.

Many of these bloggers were students or stay-at-home moms sharing their lives and passion. They didn’t have a background in business or marketing, so they had to figure it out primarily alone.

In this interview, Bree shares that she didn’t know what was considered a lot of views or how to negotiate with businesses. And how she found this new opportunity isolating as she navigated these hurdles.

“I was hitting 20,000 page views a month and had no idea that was a big deal. And I was not making any money from it.”
bree, Owner/founder thrive blog

Bree fell into a category that many other bloggers fall into, starting to see success and not knowing what to do with it. Eventually, she started connecting with other bloggers and realized everyone was experiencing the same issues. This was a brand new industry and they were essentially carving the path themselves.

As she troubleshot and connected with others, she saw the power in the community and how sharing this knowledge could help empower other bloggers. She felt there was an opportunity to build a community and help others feel less alone.

“What I do now is education and helping bloggers because I didn’t realize what I had.
A lot of it back then was just growing with the community. And that’s the thread of everything in my career.
It has always been community, which has gotten me to where I am today.”
bree

The Catalyst that Started It All

So, how did Bree go from having a blog with 20k monthly views and no income to building an eCommerce empire with multiple income streams? Well, she took it step by step.

“It started from us having local meetups, and somebody said, “Oh, well, Amazon wants me to go on Instagram and take over their stories,” which, I mean, this was back in 2014. So this was all brand new real estate.

And she’s telling us how much she charged for it. And we were saying, “Oh, you should have charged so much more.” It was those moments of realizing that we need more people to tell us what to do. We need successful bloggers to teach us what to do.“

Bree

Bree really wanted to help teach and educate others like her to help see that this career has limitless potential. Especially when you have a whole community and friendships that can help you navigate it.

And ideally, she wanted to help bring other creative and like-minded people together to connect, learn, and walk away feeling like regardless of what happened in their business, they now know what to do.

She also knew she didn’t have all the answers, and she needed lots of voices and perspectives to make the biggest impact. And that’s how the idea of Thrive’s conference was born.

Not just one voice saying, this is what you should do, but multiple voices saying, “This is what we have done, and this is what you should do.”

At that point, Bree decided to gather with other bloggers she knew and teach a group of women how they did it.

“That’s how we started. We were like, “Okay, let’s do one conference and see what happens.” By the end of that day, we knew we would do it again.
It was a game-changer for so many people that attended. And that’s what Thrive was for the next few years. It was a once-a-year, in-person conference.”
bree

While the conference thrive-d this was only the beginning. Bree had gotten into the swing of things, however she wasn’t prepared for a global pandemic that would prevent her from having an in person conference.

When COVID hit, Bree had to branch out once again and think outside the box. And while the transition let scary, she’d navigated new waters before and knew she’d come out even stronger.

At that point Bree decided to make the information even more accessible which began a whole new next-level chapter.

Thrive’s Offerings Expand

Bree started a virtual coaching program allowing just about anyone to access this information without attending the in-person conference and she launched one and then two courses. One geared towards beginners, and the other, for seasoned bloggers.

Her career and business has evolved into many different things, but somehow she seems to constantly come out on top. Each new hurdle only made her business stronger as she reached and connected with even more people.

And why is that?

“It’s because of my community that has gotten me where I am today. I have business besties and blogging friends that have kept me doing what I’m doing.
And that’s what got me to success back then and led to such an amazing career. I’m just so grateful that I randomly started a blog.”
bree

And the most rewarding part has been giving a community to other bloggers and helping them build a career based on their passion. Because if there’s one thing Bree knows very well, it’s that no one can do it alone. We need a community to ‘thrive’ in this world.

“During a coaching call, a woman said, “I want to ask everybody how are you doing it all? I am a mom, and I try to do all of these different things. You guys are doing it all. How are you doing it?” My other girls immediately unmuted and said, “We are not doing it all.”

Especially in this industry where we are constantly online, constantly putting out content, and consuming content, it is very easy for us to get overwhelmed and freeze because it seems impossible to keep up.

How do I do all of this? How do I wear all the hats? How do I juggle all of the things? That’s something that I have dealt with. It’s something I still deal with.”

Bree

While a community can be so helpful when building a business, that’s not the only thing entrepreneurs need to consider. There’s this whole other aspect of how are you going to juggle all the hats?

As Bree mentioned, we can’t do it all. So how do we reach that point of accomplishing our dreams and being successful business owners without burning out and giving up?

Well, Bree has some great tips for just that below.

“We have to be very strategic with our time and what we commit to. Ask yourself, “Okay, how does this feel? Am I able to be consistent with it? Am I able to do it?” before you even take on anything else.”
bree

Bree couldn’t have accomplished as much if it hadn’t been for the help along the way. Her friends, the people who have volunteered or were hired by Bree, and one marketing tool in particular.

Tailwind also helped take things off her plate and connect her with more bloggers. Because of Tailwind’s scheduling and automated posting Bree was able to spend her time doing more entrepreneurial things.

Bree Signed Up with Tailwind

“A lot of what I look at for anybody in our community is how much time you actually have in a week. How can we get some of that time back? And where can we strategically put our time?
And having a tool like Tailwind is such a strategic way to use your time because you can schedule things. You can batch schedule things.
Using a tool like Tailwind is a game-changer.”
bree

Sure lots of people talk about the time-saving Tailwind gives users; just check out Tailwind users, Natalie Bardo and Sandy Dedeian’s stories.

But how has Tailwind specifically helped Bree in a way no other app could or has?

Well, let’s get into that next!

“Batching is my jam. Sitting down and doing all of your scheduling once or twice a month, rather than going in weekly or daily and doing things manually, is a huge time saver.
And Tailwind is constantly adding new features and design options for pins.”
bree

Batching and scheduling aren’t the only Tailwind features Bree loves. There’s another one that hits particularly close to the center of Thrive and what Bree does.

“I love Tailwind communities. It’s such a cool feature that nobody else does. Community is at the core of everything that I do. I am still in the blogging world, and an entrepreneur to this day is because of community.”

Bree

If you’re an entrepreneur trying to do it all and wondering how to balance more you can try a one-month free trial of Tailwind and see what else you have time for!

Spoiler alert, no one is doing it alone, and you don’t need to burn yourself out by trying to do it without help.

Let Tailwind take a load off your plate and see what you can do with that extra time.

What’s Next for Thrive

“We just started a new coaching program, so now we have two. One’s called the Profitable Blogger Society. That is for newer bloggers wanting to get a good foundation and grow.

And we just launched a program called Shift. And that is for established bloggers who have already started to make money, grow, and are ready to scale to the next level.

So we’re working on that and creating content through our podcast and just different resources and education that we can share.

This world is a constantly evolving machine. I’m always wondering how we can take what’s happening, digest it, and then give it back in an easy way for you to learn and apply to what you’re doing.”

June 5 – National Cancer Survivors Day- A day to remember and honor Cancer survivors, those still fighting the disease, and especially those we’ve lost to it.

June 7 – National Chocolate Ice Cream Day – I don’t know who makes the holidays for June, but dang, they must love this month. Why not take another selfie, this time, with a pile of chocolate ice cream!

June 8 – National Best Friends Day – Give your best friend a shout-out. They deserve it.

June 14, 2021 – World Blood Donor Day – If you’re able, donate some blood and help save a life! Especially if you have that unicorn, O- blood.

June 18, 2021: Autistic Pride Day

June 19 – Juneteenth – This marks a bittersweet anniversary in American history. On June 19th, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Texas to inform the slaves that slavery had been abolished. For nearly five months after they were freed, they were unknowingly still forced into slavery. This date marks the day all slaves were finally freed in the US for good.

For National Cancer Survivors Day, you can spread cancer awareness by sharing tips on how to exam yourself and the importance of annual check-ups.

You could post a selfie with a donut or chocolate ice cream on National Donut Day or National Chocolate Ice Cream Day.

Juneteenth is a day America may not be proudest of, but it’s very important to remember and honor. You can do so by sharing your favorite books, podcasts, or accounts that teach about racial equality and spread awareness of the discrimination African-Americans still experience.

It’s never been easier to celebrate National Work From Home Day. You can finally have an excuse to show off your home office/corner (if you’re like me and live in a small apartment).

Jump into a cuddle puddle on the Hug Holiday, and squeeze those loved ones extra tight. Life can be painfully short sometimes, so give those you love some extra love.

Conclusion

While most accounts’ posts and content are geared towards their business and/or niche, celebrating and posting about holidays or significant dates helps to humanize an account and make it more relatable. It’s an opportunity to show your values, morals, and what your heart looks like by emphasizing what you care about.

Consistently posting and planning what to post on social media can be time-consuming, and it’s a full-time job. But choosing to mix it up can give you a needed break and bring some fun to your account!

Plus, you can make planning and posting your favorite June themes easy by creating unique designs for all your favorite platforms and scheduling them in just one click, thanks to Tailwind Create!

I had the privilege to sit down with Tailwind’s co-founders, Danny Maloney and Alex Topiler, to talk about our company’s culture. The exact reason I told myself if I could work anywhere, it would be here.

Why did I want to work for Tailwind so badly?

As a newly single mom who had just moved to Oklahoma City, when I researched the “best family-friendly tech startups to work for,” I noticed Tailwind listed on every website.

I took a closer look into Tailwind and found Glassdoor reviews talking about the flexible life balance for parents and the humility of the founders. Add yearly team trips, free snacks in the office, ping pong tournaments, and six key values that define the company (listed below).

I quickly realized Tailwind was not only passionate about the quality of their product but motivated by the happiness and growth opportunities for their team members too.

Here’s a snippet to show how committed Tailwind leaders are to their teammates’ growth and to give a glimpse into the type of culture Tailwind has

Tailwind is a company unlike anywhere else because of its founders, Alex and Danny. And their extraordinary idea of putting the structure of Tailwind’s culture into the hands of their team members. (We’ll get more into that later. )

Every company has a culture, and while many brag about it, few are authentic. Now, let’s dive into some radical candor about how Tailwind established and maintains a culture that feels like a family.

When Danny Met Alex

Alex and Danny met at Lean Startup Machine, a weekend hackathon in New York “geared towards people who wanted to be founders but needed to learn how.”

Both co-founders had jobs in big corporations and longed for more which led them to this event.

Alex had been working at a large financial institution, and Danny at some of the most prominent and influential companies: Google, YouTube, and AOL.

They didn’t realize it at the time, but this hackathon would be a catalyst for their dreams materializing.

“When we went through that experience (weekend hackathon), we got really good feedback on the concepts we were building. That’s when we said, “Hey, you know what? There might be something here. We should keep doing this. We shouldn’t just let it end this weekend.”

It was through meeting up on nights and weekends while still doing our full-time jobs that we began to realize we work really well together in a bunch of different ways. It’s a little bit like dating before marriage. But it happened organically in that way.”

Alex Topiler, Co-Founder of Tailwind

This won’t be the first time “family” is brought up. Throughout this interview both Alex and Danny mention the “marriage” of new team members into the company and a desire to create a mutually supportive environment.

While Alex and Danny found a flow in their working relationship, Danny had one potential issue on his mind that would determine the outcome of their endeavor. Investors.

Danny, our CEO, was thinking big picture. He saw a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to start a business with someone he worked well with and was just as enthusiastic to succeed. Yet from Danny’s background, he knew it could be difficult getting investors to take a chance on a company built by two men who hadn’t known each other for very long.

“One thing I heard a lot in the early stage is investors like founding teams who have known each other for a long time. They know they get along, their personalities mesh, and they enjoy working for each other. For us, that period was us feeling that out and getting to know each other in the first place. But it is critically important.

One of the reasons businesses don’t work out, especially early on, is if founding teams have a lot of conflicts. And they end up just disbanding and going their separate ways.

There’s a real risk of that in very early businesses. Thankfully, that didn’t happen to us, but I think that was a really important period, just to get to know each other first.”

Danny Maloney, Co-Founder of Tailwind

Danny and Alex wanted to be part of the 10% of business owners who made it, which meant they couldn’t fake anything. Their partnership had to be as authentic as their concept, or they’d fall into the other 90%. Either they naturally worked well together and could show that to investors, or not.

And spoiler alert, despite those odds against them, they got their funding and became full-time Co-Founders of a brand new company that just surpassed 1,000,000 users!

Why and How Tailwind Was Born

Sure, most people aren’t necessarily happy in corporate jobs, but it’s a lot of effort building a new company from scratch and getting it off the ground. A person can only work that hard if they’re excited about something.

So, what were Alex and Danny so passionate about that they spent all of their free time working on this idea despite having demanding full-time jobs?

“The goal is to make the world better, solve real problems, and help people. And if we do that right, growth comes with it.
“It was very similar for me. It came down to just wanting to do something meaningful. And something that would make a difference for many people and could be really valuable. The actions, specific visions, and goals constantly changed as we learned more things. But those core aspects of it have remained the same to this day.”

ALEX

Alex and Danny didn’t want to start just any new company. They wanted to make a difference and bring value to small businesses.

“It was an obsession almost. You wake up thinking about it, and you fall asleep thinking about it. I burned my hand cooking breakfast pretty badly after picking up a pan because I was busy thinking about it.”

DANNY

Eventually, their hard work paid off. They not only got investors but were able to quit their corporate jobs, and then, Bridesview, which would later become Tailwind, was out in the world.

And how did it feel when this dream they’d tasted for so long came true? Just read this heartwarming quote from Alex and find out:

“I wanted to wake up in the morning and be excited about what I was doing. I spent six years working in finance at a large corporation doing something that wasn’t fulfilling for me. I knew I needed a change.
And I will never forget the feeling I had the day I quit my job to start working with Danny full-time. I felt like I achieved my goal.”
ALEX

As Tailwind began to take shape, Danny and Alex needed to find reliable teammates to help the company become what they envisioned. And with hiring more people, they started a journey of establishing a culture through a mix of personalities.

The Team Became a Family

In the interview Danny emphasized the importance of bringing the right people onto the team and not rushing the hiring process. Danny and Alex especially didn’t want an environment like the corporate ones they came from.

They wanted to establish what felt like an extended family with individuals who cared about the quality of their jobs, as much as their leaders cared for them as human beings.

It is that family, it’s a marriage, and you want to have a good long-term relationship.”

DANNY

Tailwind treats its team members as humans first, which creates a feeling of family and loyalty.

Behind the scenes, Tailwind has channels in Slack where we “taco” (say thank you and give shoutouts) for things, and it’s common to see excerpts like this one.

The added success of our core values is due to the co-founders modeling it themselves. Their example is what carries the tradition of empathy despite the growth and changes in our team.

“For me, it came down to one thing at the core. Culture is the people you decide to put in a room together. Who did we choose to bring onto the team?

Culture’s not about any one person, despite what some people might believe. It’s not something you can dictate from the top down. You can’t create it just by hanging inspirational posters around the office.

I recognized that something magical happened when I was with others who loved their job. I think that’s what establishes great culture, because that’s when people can truly do their best work.

Amazing things happens when a group of talented, growth-oriented, and passionate people come together to strive towards a common goal.“

As the team expanded, the culture organically evolved.

Then, when Tailwind had a team of 10-15 people, Danny and Alex wanted to define what the company stood for.

And they ended up doing something really unique, which we’ll talk about next.

So, How Did Tailwind Curate a Monumental Culture?

Alex and Danny knew for their company to grow they needed to provide an environment that added to people’s overall happiness.

“The way it got formalized was quite amazing. Because establishing our values as they stand today came up organically from within the team. It didn’t come from us. It came directly from the team in a company-wide discussion regarding what people loved about working here. What they valued, what was important to them. What made them happy, what fulfilled them, and what would make them successful.

Danny and I took ourselves out of it. Seeing some of it come back is how we knew we were on the right track. And we also saw how important it was for us to continue to build upon it because you could see the difference it makes at that moment.”

ALEX

Danny also had some beautiful words about why Tailwind’s culture has been so important to him as our CEO.

“Life’s too short. We don’t know how many years we get. And if I can choose a life where I love the work I do, and I love the people that I work with. I love the way we work together. We help each other grow. I can help them grow, and we all end up better at the end of that period.

I think life is a journey of growth. And the culture that we set dictates the pace of our growth. And it also dictates how much we enjoy that growth process.“

DANNY

Their dedication to team members is apparent when individuals move on. As a small start-up, several team mates were given their first chance by Tailwind.

I’m personally one of them, along with this person.

A former team member shared that when she received several job offers for a career change, Danny coached her on how to get the best offer.

Have you ever heard of a CEO doing that?

Tailwind’s culture is so successful because Danny and Alex lead by example in living and showing our values.

Growth. Bravery. Performance. Inclusion. Ownership. Transparency.

Just see for yourself.

What are Danny and Alex Proudest Of?

They’ve accomplished a lot together. From leaving their corporate jobs to start a business, hiring for over 50 positions, managing offices in OKC and NYC with several fully remote employees, and hitting a huge milestone of 1 million users!

Tailwind has grown from becoming the #1 Pinterest scheduler app to adding support for Instagram and Facebook. Alex and Danny built a team that has pionered new concepts like Tailwind Create, which designs visual content for our members. Essentially striving to become a complete marketing system for small businesses.

But, what are they proudest of?

“If I had to choose, I would say it comes down to the team we built and the culture we’ve established. It’s far from perfect, and we can continue to improve a lot of things. But I think that’s what I’m most proud of.”
alex

“The team is a really big part of it. Going back to the culture and why positive culture works. And being able to look back at team members who went through really fun growth curves, it was a joy to be a part of that portion of their life.

And then the other side of that, it’s not about the money. It’s about the fact that we’re bringing value to the point where our members are willing to spend their hard-earned money. For the type of small businesses we serve, we know most have tight budgets and every dollar spent matters.

And if they’re seeing enough value that they’re entrusting us, that means they’re getting value back. We’re creating value for people. We are helping them live out their dreams, the lives that they want to live. And the individual stories behind those are always so much fun to hear.”

DANNY

Danny and Alex set out to help others accomplish what they did ten years ago, and I think it’s safe to say they achieved that goal. I’m immensely grateful to be a part of such an inspiring, compassionate, and able team.

Tailwind didn’t just survive; it thrived because of the vision and leadership of our co-founders.

Have you ever heard of a little thing called social media metrics? These marketing tricks help you gauge the effectiveness of your social media strategy, which is pretty important no matter the size of your business.

In a nutshell, social media metrics help you measure the success of a campaign and the overall impact your social media performance has on your business. And it measures these analytics by tracking things like engagement, sales, clicks, and overall growth.

When most people outside of marketing think of social media, they likely don’t think of strategy and statistics.

However, it’s hard to know what works for your audience without a plan, goals, and calculated measurements. Without tracking the metrics, every post is like a random shot in the dark. Any marketing without intention (unless you strike some luck) is a waste of time.

So if you’re a business using social media marketing and want to grow your account and make sales, then this post is for YOU .

Without further ado, there are three important things to consider when measuring your social media metrics.

What metrics to measure

Where to measure them

How to analyze metric performance

And the best part is I’ll be taking you through all of that in this post. By the time you’re done, you’ll be able to track your analytics like a pro.

So let’s get to it, shall we?

What Metrics to Measure

Social media metrics give you a birds’ eye view of your content’s performance. But what social media analytics should you measure to include any potential blind spots?

There are four significant factors to keep in mind that’ll help determine the impact your social media presence is making. These four factors will help you see what your target audience prefers and the success of your campaigns.

Whether you’re a social media marketing manager or an entrepreneur, tracking these analytics will reveal everything you need to know about the success of your efforts.

1. Reach

There are two different types of reach that should be measured. And if you’re wondering, “how could there be different types of reach?”, don’t worry because we’re friends now, and I’ll explain why they’re different yet equally important.

The first type is post reach which keeps track of how many people organically saw the content since it was posted. This is really helpful in seeing where you’re falling in the algorithm and if people are seeing your posts or not.

It also helps measure the engagement percentage to gauge the direct impact your content has on its targeted audience. (We’re just scratching the surface on this topic, but I’ll go into greater detail below. )

The second type is potential reach which shows how many people likely saw your post during a certain period of time. When calculating potential reach, there are three factors taken into consideration.

Unique Views – How many people saw it both organically and through re-shares?

Impressions – How many people interacted with the content? This includes likes, comments, and shares. (Want to learn more? Check out our blog post on navigating Instagram impressions and reach!)

Follower Count – Did anyone follow you after seeing that post?

Audience Growth Rate – Did you maintain followers or lose any? What’s your overall growth rate? And is that continually climbing, declining, or remaining the same?

2. Share of Voice

This analysis helps you see how many people are mentioning and tagging your account compared to your competitors. It enables you to evaluate your brand’s visibility and relevance within your market’s niche.

3. Conversion Metrics

These analytics help you see how effective your social engagement is at converting followers and making sales. Conversion metrics help you determine how engaging your content is and whether or not you’re targeting the right audience.

You can track conversion metrics depending on where the traffic is coming from and what type of content you’re measuring. But these analytics will significantly help you determine the effectiveness of your social media strategy.

Website Referrals show how many people come from other websites to yours and which websites are bringing them to yours. This is a standard metric used in affiliate programs and influencer marketing.

Social Media Conversions track how many people visit your website directly from social media, which helps you see the effectiveness of a post or campaign.

Conversion Rate is your post’s ratio of comments to the number of overall followers. This metric allows you to see if your audience was inspired to add their voice to your content.

Click-Through-Rate (CTR) tracks how often people click on a specific link you provide for additional content. CTRs are a great tool when determining how compelling the CTA is to your audience.

Bounce Rate is a marketing term for the percentage of people who click a link and quickly leave the page without taking any action. The lower your bounce rate, the more people are interacting with your page, meaning you’re hitting the right target audience.

4. Engagement Metrics

These are the most straightforward metrics to track, but they aren’t necessarily the most reliable. Algorithms change frequently, and sometimes a killer post can just get lost. However, the more loyal your audience, the less your content will be negatively impacted by algorithm changes.

So even though these analytics are more subjective, they’re still critical to consider when determining what is working in your social media strategy and what could use improvement.

There are several engagement metrics to keep in mind that the apps will track for you. And we’ll discuss that right meow.

Likes – This is the lowest form of determining engagement analytics because it is considered the least effort someone has to put into = engaging with a post. This number will generally be the highest analytic and is just part of the picture.

Comments – Comments are a better indicator of a post’s success. When someone comments, they feel called to share their opinion, which means they want to engage with your content and be a part of the story. Comments are one of the easiest ways to determine if content hits the targeted audience or not.

Shares – The next level up from comments is someone re-sharing your content as that goes beyond interacting with your content. Re-shares are essentially someone recommending your account to their audience.

Clicks – This was briefly mentioned in Click-Through-Rate and Bounce-Rate. But this essentially shows the percentage of people who clicked on your content.

Applause Rate – This metric takes the total number of actions just listed (likes, comments, shares, and clicks) a post receives compared to your number of followers. It provides valuable information on how valuable your audience found that post.

(Interested in growing your engagement on Pinterest? We did a study on how to organically grow your Pinterest engagement.)

Now that we discussed what you should be measuring and the importance of those metrics, let’s go over how to do it. While you may be scratching your head wondering how to keep track of these crucial analytics, sit back and relax because it’s simpler than you’d think.

How to Measure Social Media Campaign Performance

Tracking several metrics on multiple social media platforms and analyzing performance can be a full-time job.

Luckily some apps will track all of that data for you and keep it stored in one single place. Social media tracking apps are simple and great for solo entrepreneurs and companies without a marketing team.

And an app like Tailwind can measure those analytics, saving you from compiling and analyzing the data yourself.

Tailwind allows you to track important analytics for both Pinterest and Instagram, but it has several other capabilities too!

Tailwind Create allows you to make custom posts from templates made by graphic designers. Hashtag Finder makes it easier than ever to find the perfect hashtags that will get your post the most traction. Smart.Bio allows you to include links to various places and tracks when each one is visited. And Tailwind Communities gives you a space to engage with people in your similar niche on Pinterest.

Thanks to social media tracking tools, you don’t need to be a marketer to grow your accounts strategically. Marketing is easier and more accessible than ever.

Tailwind’s blog also keeps our users and readers up-to-date on social media best practices and app changes, like this post on using Pinterest analytics.

Social media performance doesn’t have to be a mystery!

Next Steps

As you can see, social media metrics and tracking your social media performance don’t have to be a headache.

And it’s also vital to your accounts’ growth and success.

Without tracking these metrics, every post is a missed opportunity to learn something from your target audience on what works verse what doesn’t.

While some analytics are easy to see and keep track of, such as likes and comments, an additional app like Tailwind can help keep track of those analytics plus more. Tailwind will also help break the data down into easily digestible information.

You don’t need to be a marketing guru to leverage social media and convert followers into customers.

If you’re not already a Tailwind user, you can try our forever-free plan and see if it’s worth retiring some of those rotating hats you have been juggling. Why not see if it can take a load off your plate and give you fewer things to worry about?

Now that you know what to track and how I suggest checking out our post, How to Build a Social Media Marketing Strategy, next!

The world is your oyster, friends.

Ciao!
